Similar in appearance to the equally popular Volkswagen Jetta, the Passat captures the body of a full-size car with the brains of a sleeker, more sophisticated sports car. New for 2012, the Passat is available in four distinct models: Passat GL, GLS, GLX, and Passat W8.

Though each of these models is markedly different, each possesses some of the same Passat parts same that define the Passat line. At the heart of every Passat is its engine, and Volkswagen experts hail all three available engines in this year's group:

Other aspects of 2012 Volkswagen Passat performance include power- assisted rack and pinion steering, standard five-speed manual transmissions, front and rear gas shock absorbers, and power-assisted anti-lock disc brakes on all four wheels.
