RX8 Expected to make a big splash in the sports car pond, the 2012 Mazda RX-8 is with its innovative 4-door design, is shipping to dealers in Spring/Summer 2012. The lower performance power plant develops 207 horsepower at 7,200 rpm and redlines at 7,200 rpm. Mazda will ship with two transmission configurations, state of the art suspension, and beefy brakes: A close-ratio 6-speed manual for the higher end power plant A 4-speed automatic with paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel to achieve a "semi-manual" mode for the lower end model Double-wishbone front suspension and long-link multilink rear suspension Disc brakes with ABS are used all round with a heavier "Sport" version optional There may be some debate over the practicality of a sports car with seating for four. The 2012 Mazda RX-8 is a little unusual in that it sports suicide rear doors to make entry into the back seats much easier. Overall, the cockpit is spacious and comfortable for average sized adults. Instrumentation is ergonomically placed and easily read.
